Jack Marris moved to Applecross in 2012 after extensively travelling across Scotland in search of dramatic landscapes to photograph. He fell in love with the northwest Highlands, and Applecross embodied everything he was seeking for photographic inspiration, making it the perfect location to launch his professional photography career. In 2015, Jack opened the Applecross Photographic Gallery. Over the years, the gallery has grown, allowing Jack to build a small team and offer a wide variety of high-quality, sustainably made products, using local materials whenever possible. Jack values quality over quantity and has a keen eye for detail in his work. Most of the images he captures are meticulously planned to take advantage of seasonal light and weather, often several years in the making. Many of his photographs require camping overnight on mountain summits and ridges, in all seasons, making careful planning an essential part of his creative process.
