Capture the warmth of a summer evening with this stunning sunset panorama of the Ballachulish Bridge, featuring rich golden tones and a serene, reflective loch. Ideal for adding a touch of natural beauty to any space.

The Ballachulish Bridge, which opened in 1975, connects the land across the narrows between Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe. This steel bridge replaced the small turntable ferries that once carried people and vehicles across the water. You can still spot the old slipways on either side of the bridge, where the ferries used to dock, offering a glimpse into the area's past.

Jack Marris on the beach with his camera and his dog

Story Behind The Lens

Jack chose to capture this panorama in the late afternoon when the sun was low in the sky. The timing was intentional, as the setting sun casts warm light on the peaks behind the bridge, creating rich pink and gold tones. The loch, completely still, mirrors the entire scene, including the bridge and the mountains. A boat heading towards the bridge adds a dynamic touch to the otherwise calm landscape. This combination of light, reflection, and movement perfectly captures the tranquil beauty of this area of the Highlands.
