Story From Behind The Lens

Jack wanted an aerial picture of the Bealach na Ba, the road into Applecross, and the gallery. He had to capture this at the right time of day, in clear weather, without any other vehicles on the road‚ a tricky task, if you know the road The Bealach na Ba is the winding single track mountain pass to Applecross, built in 1822 and engineered similarly to the mountain passes of the Alps. It has the greatest ascent of any road in the UK, and is the third highest road in Scotland. From the top you can experience terrific views across much of Wester Ross, the Isle of Skye, the Islands of Rum, and the Outer Hebrides.

A November sunrise allowed the light to flood up through the corrie and land on the hairpins, alongside a 120m elevation to really encapsulate the incline of the pass.

He decided to name the final image "The Hill" because it's what Applecross locals nickname the Bealach, although to many who visit, it's much more than a hill If you ever decide to do this incredible drive, make sure you visit us when you get to the bottom.

The Hill - Hard to choose as there were so many stunning images

I’m an ex-pat now living in Canada and I’m delighted with my purchase of The Hill. The quality of the image is exceptional, made even more special when I watched how the image was taken on YouTube. I visited his small store in Applecross last month and it was a delight to see his work and chat with him. I’m more than pleased to be able to display his work in my home.

Hi Mary, thanks so much for your lovely review. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit and that you now have your very own piece of Applecross to serve as a reminder of your trip here.
