Old Man Of Storr on Boxing Day, Photographed By Jack Marris
The Old Man of Storr captured by Jack Marris on a snowy sunrise during the winter of 2023. "Despite the unforgiving weather, I persisted in keeping an eye on the forecasts during Christmas, hoping for a break in the storms. Luckily, I was able to seize the clear morning on Boxing Day, starting my journey at 10pm on Christmas night and spending the night at the foot of the hike. The resulting sunrise atop the Storr was nothing short of breathtaking, with the snow beautifully enhancing the rugged landscape. Our gallery across the way offers a stunning view of the Storr on snowy days like this".

Hand-Stretched Canvas
At The Applecross Gallery, we use high-grade, UV-resistant canvas with a matte finish alongside a professional-grade 12-ink printer. This advanced technology captures the full tonal range and precise colour of Jack Marris' Highland photography, ensuring each piece has remarkable clarity and longevity.
Every canvas is hand-stretched in-house over durable pinewood frames crafted by local artisans, creating a unique, authentic addition to your decor. Your order arrives ready to hang, bringing the beauty of the Highlands straight to your space.
Floating Post Frames (Small Framed Canvases)
Floating post frames provide a contemporary way to display your favourite Scottish prints. The prints appear to "float" within the frame, giving a clean and modern aesthetic that enhances the artwork. These frames are a great option for those looking for a sleek, minimalist presentation.
Larch Post Frames (Medium & Large Framed Canvases)
Larch post frames offer a rustic and unique way to display your favourite Scottish prints. Crafted from reclaimed larch fence posts that we collect from around Applecross, each frame carries its own natural character and history, adding warmth and texture to the artwork.
These frames are perfect for those who appreciate a more organic, earthy aesthetic while supporting sustainable practices. Every one is unique, carrying natural details like lichen and moss that grew on the posts over the years.

Size Guide
Canvases
Our panoramic canvases are designed to suit the wide Highland landscapes Jack photographs, helping to bring a real sense of scale and atmosphere into your space.
Small Panoramic (22x8 inches / 55x20 cm)
A smaller panoramic size that works beautifully in hallways, smaller rooms, shelves, or narrower wall spaces. These are also ideal as part of a gallery wall where you can combine similar Highland locations, colours, or favourite memories from Scotland together.
Adding a floating post frame to our small canvases increases the overall dimensions to approximately 25.5 X 11 inches / 28.5 X 64 cm.
Medium Panoramic (40x16 inches / 100x40 cm)
A versatile panoramic size that suits most spaces comfortably, particularly above side tables, desks, fireplaces, or smaller sofas, where you still want the landscape to feel expansive without overwhelming the room.
Adding a larch post frame to our medium canvases increases the overall dimensions to approximately 45 X 21 inches / 114 X 53.5 cm.
Large Panoramic (60x22 inches / 150x55 cm)
At roughly the same width as a king size mattress, this panoramic canvas works particularly well above beds or two-seater sofas, creating a strong focal point while still feeling balanced within the room.
Extra Large Panoramic (80x30 inches / 200x75 cm)
Our largest panoramic format creates a much more immersive feel and works best on larger open walls where the full scale of the Highland landscape can really stand out.

A more statement-sized print that suits most spaces comfortably, whether displayed above furniture, within a hallway, or as a focal point on its own.
